DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday (June 25) said that the dope test will be made mandatory in government jobs.
“If government officials are drug addicts then action will be taken against them”, he said
The minister was briefing reporters at his secretariat office on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26).
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said “We have applied to the Prime Minister for dope test in the recruitment of the government job. The Prime Minister gave instructions in this regard. It will be implemented gradually.
“If government officials are drug addicts then action will be taken against them according to the law. Dope test will be mandatory during recruitment in government service. If the drug is found in the blood, then its application will be canceled or not accepted”, he added.
Regarding prevention of drug smuggling through borders, the minister said the borders between India and Myanmar has been strengthened. The number of BGB and Coast Guard has been increased in both the borders.
There are also some border areas where can not be entered without helicopter. So, the Prime Minister gave permission to buy two helicopters. These two helicopters are coming, he elaborated.
“In total, we will try our level best so that the drug does not come through border freely,” the minister further said.
