DHAKA: The extent of loss caused by Fani was estimated at worth Tk 536,61,20,000 as the cyclonic storm damaged homesteads, roads, croplands and embankments in various districts.
Disaster Management and Relief Ministry revealed the information after holding a meeting of Inter-Ministerial Disaster Management Coordination Committee (IMDMCC) at the secretariat Thursday (May 9).
Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Affairs Enamur Rahman, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry AB Tajul Islam and officials of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and various ministries and Meteorological Department Director Shamsuddin Ahmed, among others, took part in the meeting.
The cyclonic storm caused damage to homesteads worth Tk 781420000, flood protection embankments Tk 2510000000, fisheries Tk 28400000, forests and environment (mango orchards) Tk 50000000 and agriculture Tk 380000000.
Besides, the cost of repairing the roads damaged by Fani was estimated at Tk 1616300000.
