Murder accused killed in Rajbari ‘shootout’

RAJBARI: A 38-year-old man, who was accused in a murder case, was killed in a shootout with policemen reportedly taken place in Rajbari sadar upazila around 1:30am Thursday (Nov 8).

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali Sheikh, 38.

Two police members—Ziaul and Ramjan survived injuries in the incident.  

District Detective Branch (DB) of Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan a drive was carried out in Pachuria area on tip off that a group of terrorists are staying there, at the night.

At one stage, the terrorists opened fire at police. 

Police fired back in retaliation.

Afterwards, Mohammad Ali was found bullet-hit while all others managed to flee the scene.

He was taken to Rajbari sadar hospital where the on-duty physician pronounced him dead. 

A pistol, a duel-pipe gun and 14 rounds of bullet were recovered from the spot, he said.

The deceased was accused in several cases filed on murder, extortion, abduction and other charges, added the OC.
