EU wants participatory, competitive polls in Bangladesh

DHAKA: European Union (EU) ambassador Renzi Tirink has said the upcoming national election in Bangladesh should be a competitive and participatory one for its acceptance.

“Competitive and participatory election is important to make it a acceptable one. EU is ready to offer any help regarding this,” she said.

Two representative of EU will come to Bangladesh on the last week of November, to inspect the process and atmosphere of polls. They will stay here for a few weeks, she added.  

Renzi Tirink and six other EU representatives held a meeting with the election commissioners including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda in Dhaka Thursday (Oct 18).
