No scope to violate HC verdict on quota issue: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressing parliament session

FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the freedom fighter quota in public services is protected by the High Court verdict and thus can’t be reformed.

Meanwhile, those who attacked the residence of DU VC in name of movement are being arrested. They won’t be spared no matter how strong of a movement they form, the PM added.

Prime Minister made the remarks while delivering the closing speech at the 21st session of 10th parliament on Thursday afternoon (July 12).

Sheikh Hasina said, “Quota reformists don’t know what they want actually. Our Minister of Liberation War Affairs said the freedom fighter quota is protected by the HC verdict. We can not violate the order as it will be a contempt of court.”

What we can do is fill up the vacant posts of the preserved quota with candidates from merit list. This process has been ongoing over the last few years, PM added.
