3 killed in Sirajganj bus-pick up collision

SIRAJGANJ: Three passengers including a college teacher was killed as a bus rammed a pick-up van on Hatikumrul-Bonpara Highway, in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj Thursday (May 17).

The deceased were identified as Gupindranath Sarker, 45, a lecturer at Shahjadpur Women College, Sohag, 28, son of one Dulal Ahammed from Magura Binod area and Renuka Khatun, 48, wife of one Abdul Mannan from Ambariapara area of the upazila.

Magura Binod Union Parishad Chairman Atikul Islam Bulbul told Banglanews that an overspeed bus of Mamun Paribahan collided face-to-face with the Hatikumrul-bound pick-up van, in the morning.

Two persons died on the spot and four others injured, as the van plunged into the roadside ditch.

Of the injured, one succumbed to injuries after being taken to hospital, around 10:30am.

The bus was seized and the driver along with the helper was detained, Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Qadir Jilani told Banglanews.
