DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Students under the banner of ‘Committee to Protect Rights of Bangladesh General Students’ demanded withdrawal of all the cases filed over quota reform movement within two days.
If the demand isn’t met within the deadline, they will wage another movement, they said at a press briefing Monday (April 16).
Central leaders of the student rights body including Convener Hasan Al Mamun and Joint Conveners Nurul Haque Nur, Rashed Khan and Faruk Hasan attended the briefing before the central library of Dhaka University, at noon.
A devious quarter is trying to sway the movement towards a distracted way, said Nur.
“Student society will wage an irrepressible movement if the protesters and leaders (of quota reform movement) are harassed,” he added.
Rashed Khan protested some personal information about him claiming those false which were earlier published in newspaper.
The press briefing also asked the concerned authority to seek apology by 5:00pm Monday over publishing another report that described a quota protester as an activist of Jamaat Shibir. Otherwise students from all the colleges and universities of the country will boycott the newspaper, said the student leaders.
However, the speakers also demanded the government to bring the attackers of DU VC residence violence under book.
