SINGAPORE: Singapore named an orchid after Sheikh Hasina in their famous botanical garden, in honor of the Bangladesh prime minister.
Sheikh Hasina was present during the nomenclature ceremony at 8:35am local time Tuesday (March 13). She visited different parts of the Singapore Botanical Gardens.
Notably, the 158-year-old tropical garden located at the fringe of Singapore's Orchard Road shopping district is a world heritage site.
Afterwards, Sheikh Hasina joined a program of Bangladesh-Singapore Business Forum at Shangri-La hotel, her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told Banglanews.
She will return home Tuesday cutting short her official visit to Singapore in wake of the tragic plane crash at Kathmandu Monday (March 12).
She will leave Singapore City for Dhaka in the afternoon by a regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Meanwhile in a message to the nation, the prime minister said she will return home to stand beside the families of the victims of air crash which claimed lives of most of 71 passengers on board of the flight of US-Bangla Airlines bound for Kathmandu from Dhaka.
The prime minister talked to her Nepalese counterpart Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli over phone soon after the tragic accident and assured him of giving all possible support in conducting the rescue operation and treatment of the injured persons.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina arrived in Singapore Sunday (March 11) on a four-day official visit at the invitation from her Singapore counterpart Lee Hsein Loong.
