Int'l Women's Day being marked

DHAKA: International Women's Day is being observed Thursday across the country as elsewhere in the world with a vow to ensure women's participation in all spheres of the national development.

On the eve of the day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted all women across the world in their separate messages.

Abdul Hamid, in his message, said the government is implementing various plans to ensure security and free access to workplaces for women and their participation in the policy making levels.

In her message, PM Sheikh Hasina urged all to work together for building a developed and prosperous country by ensuring women's development, participation and rights in all sectors.

Different socio-cultural organizations have chalked out programs to mark the day.

A special concert has been arranged this morning in the capital where only women are invited. Universal Medical College Hospital is organizing this “Concert for Women” at Dhanmondi's Sultana Kamal Women's Complex.
