Global media show importance to Khaleda verdict

DHAKA: The verdict of Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against Khaleda Zia drew huge attention to many well known international media. 

On Thursday (Feb 8), A special court in Dhaka sentenced five years imprisonment to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and 10 years imprisonment to other accused including Khaleda’s son Tarique Rahman in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.

Several international news agencies including BBC, Reuters, AFP, Al Jazeera have published the news with importance. 

Some of the headlines from foreign media organizations are as follows: 

BBC published the news with a headline “'Bangladesh ex-PM Khaleda Zia jailed amid clashes”.

The Guardian published the verdict news under the heading 'Violent protests as opposition leader is jailed in Bangladesh'.
