All educational institutions closed till April 9

DHAKA: All educational institutions and coaching centres will remain closed till April 9 in a bid to contain further transmission of coronavirus (Covid-19).

The decision came from a meeting held in the education ministry today (March 24) chaired by education minister Dr Dipu Moni.

Among others, Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, Technical and Madrasah Education Secretary Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed and other senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.

Dr Dipu Moni also urged the students to stay at home during the period and comply with the declared hygiene code of IEDCR.

Meanwhile, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on today (March 24) confirmed four deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) and total 39 cases across the country. Of them, five recovered and were discharged.

Besides, the fast spreading coronavirus has so far claimed 16,558 lives worldwide till Tuesday (March 24) afternoon (Bangladesh Time).
