Unified admission tests for public universities on card

DHAKA: Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said unified admission tests will be introduced in public universities as class-XI in colleges.

The minister was inaugurating the 11th class students’ admission in Dhaka Education Board auditorium on Sunday (May 12).

Citing that a Combined and Unified University Admission Test will be introduced, the deputy minister said this will ease the pain and sufferings of students and guardians. If the integrated admission process is implemented, there will be more transparency in the admission process.

About the progress of the unified admission process in the universities, the Deputy Minister said, “We have already held a meeting with the UGC (University Grants Commission). They made a report in which the matter was thoroughly highlighted.”

“After receiving the report, we will meet with university Vice-Chancellors. Combined admission system will be introduced in the university after consultation how it can be implemented,” he added.

However, the Deputy Minister did not give any specific information about whether the public admission process will be taken from public universities this year.

But this year, eight agricultural universities have taken initiative to introduce integrated admission procedures. As per the decision, the test will be held with the same question paper on the same day in the eight agricultural universities of the country.
