DHAKA: Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations began across the country Monday (April 1).

The exams were scheduled to begin at 10:00am.

Education Minister Dipu Moni visited an exam center at Siddheswari Girls’ College in Dhaka, in the morning.

As per routine, the theoretical examinations will conclude on May 11 following which the practical examinations will begin from May 12 and end on May 21.

The examinees were directed to enter the exam centers 30 minutes before the beginning time.

As many as 13,51,309 students are supposed to sit for the exams this year.

Of them, 11,38,550 are supposed to sit under eight general education boards while 78,451 under madrasa and 1,24,265 under technical education boards.

The exams will be held at as many as 2,580 centers.

Earlier, Dipu Moni ordered shutdown of all the coaching centers from April 1 to May 6 in a bid to hold the exams in free, fair and cheat-free manner.
