Pragatishil Chhatra Oikya boycotts Ducsu polls Kuwait Maitree Hall students demonstrating with precast ballots.

DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Leftist student bodies’ alliance Pragatishil Chhatra Oikya has boycotted the elections to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu).

The voting was underway since 8am Monday (Mar 11).

The panel’s vice president (VP) candidate Liton Nandi has made the announcement at a press briefing at Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University (DU), at the noon.

Pragatishil Chhatra Oikya leaders said their candidates and activists were chased by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men while they went to visit the polling center at Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall.

Voting in the polling center installed at Rokeya Hall was postponed amid unrest triggered by attack on VP candidate Nurul Huq Nur and Kuwait Maitree Hall Provost Prof Dr Shabnam Jahan was withdrawn amid allegations that as many as 1,000 precast ballots were found in the hall.
