DHAKA: The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education is all set for redirecting a circular barring the children of state-run primary school teachers from enrolling in private kindergartens.
Besides, the ministry is embarking on a common lesson plan for all of the primary schools so that the classes will be held at every school in the same period.
The initiatives have been taken to ensure quality education at primary schools and prevent corruption, said the State Minister for Education Zakir Hossain and Secretary Md Akram Al Hossain.
The minister and the secretary were videoconferencing with the teachers and Upazila Primary Education Officers (UPEOs) of Savar, Dhamrai, Dohar and Nawabganj upazilas of Dhaka district, from the meeting room of the secretariat Tuesday (Jan 15).
“The same lessons will be taught throughout the country. The lesson plan has been made by the National Academy of Primary Education (NAPE). It will be sent to every school after finalization,” said Secretary Akram.
“Lesson plan of all the schools of Bangladesh will be the same,” he added.
“We have a circular directing the children of primary school teachers must study in primary schools. We will remind them about it again,” said the secretary.
“That is to say, we will ensure that primary school teachers’ children can’t attend the kindergartens. “We will do it, it’s tough though,” he added.
Akram further said ‘zero tolerance against corruption’ policy will be confirmed from the ministry to primary school phases.
Director General of Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) and other officials of the ministry attended the conference.
