National Mourning Day observed at ULAB

DHAKA: University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a discussion session along with documentary screening for commemorating National Mourning Day 2014 on August 14 at its own campus in Dhanmondi.

The programme was observed on the occasion of 39th Death Anniversary of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The programme was started with recitation of poet Nirmolendu Gun’s “Sei Ratrir Kolpokahini” and “August, Shoker Mas, Kado”.

Students from the Media Studies and Journalism Department of ULAB recited those poems.

Later on there was a documentary titled “Rahman- Father of Bengal” directed by Japanese film maker Nagisa Oshima exhibited.

Professor Abdul Mannan, ULAB School of Business was the Keynote speaker in the discussion.

He said “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was one of the great leaders in the world who played the most important role for achieving the Independence of our country.”

He also discussed all about his visit to Tungipara under Gopalganj district on ‘Bangabandhu and the Independence of Bangladesh’.

Professor Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor of ULAB delivered vote of thanks at the programme.

In the end members of ULAB Shangskriti Sangsad performed National Anthem of Bangladesh.

Among others, president, ULAB Board of Trustees and Founder of ULAB Kazi Shahid Ahmed, Registrar Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam, faculty members, admin members and students of ULAB were present in the programme.
