DSE, CSE fall in early hours

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with downward trend of share-price indices on Wednesday (April 24).

Within first two hours of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse advanced 30.15 points while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse gained 95.92 points.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 30.15 points or 0.57 percent to 5,230.70 points at 12:05pm.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 5.11 points or 0.42 percent to stand at 1,210.30 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed over 7.77 points or 0.41 percent to reach at 1,864.96 points.

Turnover stands at Tk 1,454.17 million on the DSE, riding on United Power Generation and Distributions Ltd and National Tubes Ltd. 

United Power Generation and Distributions Ltd dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 188.66 million changing hands till then followed by National Tubes and Monno Ceramics.

Of the issues traded till then, 65 advanced, 206 declined and 58 issues remained unchanged. 

However, the port city bourse, the CSE, saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – declining 95.92 points or 0.59 percent to stand at 16,025 also at 12:04 pm.

Out of 151 issues traded, 18 gained, 107 declined and 26 remained unchanged with shares worth Tk 50.92 million traded.
