Bourses see fall Wednesday

DHAKA: Key share price indexes at both Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed negative trend on Wednesday (March 20), hitting the turnover nearly three months low.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 30.73 points to 5,600.55points, starting from 5639.6 points in the morning despite some ups and downs round the day.

However, two other indices edged lower as investors are not confident enough to inject fresh fund in the market.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 3.21 points or 0.24 per cent to close at 1289.71.

The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 9.10 points or 0.45 per cent to close at 2005.58 points.

Of the issues traded on the DSE, 101 advanced, 193 declined and 51 remained unchanged. 

British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company Ltd was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 199.32 million changing hands.

Premier Cement Mills Ltd was also the day's top gainer, posting a rise of 7.89 per cent while Sonar bangle Insurance Company Ltd was the day's worst loser, posting a decline of 9.60 per cent.

On the other hand, the CSE overall share index, CASPI also gained 42.33 percent or 0.24 to reach 17166.81 points at the close today. 

Of the 231 issues traded, 81 advanced, 122 suffered loss and 28 remained unchanged. 

The value of the traded issues was Tk 113.80 million.
