Khaleda to sit soon with polls boycotted parties

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will soon sit with the political parties boycotted the 10th national election with a view to getting back the rights of ballots.

Very soon, the parties who skipped the national polls will be invited on behalf of Khaleda Zia to force the government to hold polls under a neutral caretaker government.

Khaleda Zia will sit separately with the top leaders of these parties. Party insiders said to get back the rights of vote as well as to involve those parties with the anti-government    agitations is the main object of the sitting.

When contacted a number of leaders of BNP said the government will be compelled to bow down to people’s demand not through violence rather through democratic agitations. So, Khalda Zia will hold discussions with the like-minded and poll abandoners.

The BNP like-minded parties are former president B Chowdhury’s Bikalpa Dhara, JSD (ASM Abdur Rob) Krishak Sramik Janata League of Kader Siddiqui and Dr Kamal Hossain’s Gono Forum.

Besides, the BNP chief will also sit with the 19-party alliance partners.

Simultaneously, she will hold talks with the representatives of civil society, teachers, journalists, physicians, business leaders and other professional groups.

Joint Secretary General of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told that BNP is always in favor of democracy because the founder of this party Ziaur Rahman established multi-party democracy for the first time in this country.

Democracy was killed in Bangladesh. To restore the democracy and to return the rights of vote of the people, election has become urgent under a neutral government, he added.

He further said that BNP always believes peaceful solution through holding talks. Khaleda Zia has been making calls to Sheikh Hasina for holding dialogue with aim of restoring the rights of franchise of the people.

BNP demands immediate election through talks. If the government does not agree, then the rights of vote will be brought back through movement along with the people, he further added.
