KUALA LUMPUR: Lakhs of workers including many businessmen from Bangladesh are serving in Malaysia. So the High Commission building and manpower should be increased.
Taking part in a discussion organized by Bangladesh’s leading online news portal Banglanews24, expatriate human rights worker Harun ur Rashid said that the Bangladesh High Commission building should be expanded and the man powers also needs to be increased.
The discussion was held at Hotel Holiday Inn Express in Malaysian capital city Kuala Lumpur, Friday (December 8).
This human rights worker of CARAM Asia made the observation in view of the prevailing situation so that lakhs of Bangladeshis staying here can get services easily.
The expatriate human rights workers called upon the concerned ministry to take action immediately to ensure the service.
The problems of the expatriates should be identified by the high ups of the government. The Malaysian government should be made understand that by sending labors it is not only Bangladesh is benefitted but Malaysia is also benefitted more.
To ensure rights of the labors the role of the government is important. Through discussion of the two governments the problems should be solved.
High Commissioner through unity existing here problems can be solved like Nepal, Cambodia and Vietnam. They are very much vocal in this field.
But we fail to take such initiatives. To save the interest and dignity of the labors the state should be alert.
However, the meeting was chaired by Banglanews Editor-in-Chief Alamgir Hossain while Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Shahidul Islam was the chief guest.
The meeting was also attended by local Bangladeshi community leaders.
Earlier the Banglanews team made an extensive tour in Malaysia and filed a number of reports upon the problems and prospects of Bangladeshis living here.
