HABIGANJ: Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authority is set to cancel as many as 16,000 of its VIP passes used for availing fast services.
The move has been initiated to prevent gold smuggling, said Civil Aviation & Tourism Minister Advocate Mahbub Ali Thursday (Jan 24).
He was addressing a views-exchanging meeting in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj.
“Challenge has been accepted to prevent irregularities and corruption at the airport,” he said.
“If anyone is found involved with gold smuggling availing the privilege of VIP pass, s/he won’t be spared,” added Mahbub Ali.
The minister also mentioned the prime minister’s consent regarding the decision.
