Glorious 10 years of Etihad Airways

DHAKA: Etihad Airways, the national airline of United Arab Emirates, has just completed their 10 years of glorious service in Bangladesh.

Etihad commenced their journey in Bangladesh on May 4 in 2006.

The airline arranged a program to mark their 10th anniversary event at city’s Westin hotel on Thursday morning (November 17).

The organization’s senior officials met with journalists about their achievements and future plans in Bangladesh.

Etihad Airways Vice President (Indian subcontinent) Neerja Bhatia said, “We’ve just passed our glorious 10 years in here. It’s a great achievement for us. We want to create new opportunities for Bangladeshi laborers. We want to provide many advantages including visa service regarding manpower issues in the Middle East.”

Bangladesh is the second largest market for Eitihad Airways in Indian subcontinent. It is being marked for its smooth passenger transport along with cargo transport.

She further said, Etihad has transported nearly 15 lakhs Bangladeshi passengers since 2006 using mainly two types of aircraft (Boeing 777 and 300) comprising 380 seats (40 seats Business Class and 340 seats Economy Class).

The key routes for Etihad aircrafts are New York, Toronto, Chicago, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Geneva, Milan, Zurich, Rome, Jeddah and Medina etc. The Airways is currently conducting more than thirteen hundred flights a week in 55 countries in the world.

“We think Abu Dhabi as one of the important places in the world because of its geographical location. It is easy to move anywhere from there. Immigration of USA can be completed in Abu Dhabi within just 30 minutes. As a result England, USA and Australia-bound Bangladeshi students face rush in immigration there. We provide various facilities including housing for them. We are about to increase our cargo transport in future.”

She finally said, “A billion dollar trade agreement has been signed between Abu Dhabi and Bangladesh government. So cargo transport will increase soon. We are very happy about our overall situation in Bangladesh airport.”

Etihad airways general manager Hanif Zakaria said, “We are very proud of our 10 years of collaborative works in Bangladesh and we will do everything for the comfort of the passengers in future.”

Etihad Ariways account manager M Shahabuddin was also attended the event.
