Bangladesh Vs West Indies Test Played At Kingston, Jamaica

Brief Score Card at Stumps Day two

West Indies 354 All Out (KC Bariathwaite 110, S O Hetmeyer 80, SD Hope 29,KOA Powell 29, RL Chase20 ,JHolder20* , Mehedy Miraj 5/93 , Abu Jayed 3/38) and 19/1 and Bangladesh 149 All Out (Tamim Iqbal 47, Shakib al Hasan 32, Mushfiqur Rahim 24,  J holder 5/44, S Gabriel 2/19, Paul 2/25)

The commendable performance of Bangladeshi bowlers especially young Miraj and Jayed on the second morning was completely eclipsed by yet another lackluster batting display of spine less Bangladesh team.. There is famous saying MORNING SHOWS THE DAY. But for Bangladesh which was Rosy in the morning turned out to be dark grey in the afternoon staring at another possible huge defeat. West Indies starting the day at 294/4 collapsed to 354 all out for good bowling in combination by Miraj ,Jayed and Taijul.

The wicket started playing a bit of tricks as well. Bangladesh continued its brain freeze with the bat. Lition forgot to seek review and was unlucky, Tamim escaping two close LBW shout and a catch drop scored 47, Shakib playing well till 32 got out to an irresponsible attempt to cut to an incoming delivery, Mominul , Mahmudullah , Nurul Hasan Kamrul and Jayed getting out without troubling the scorer led to Bangladesh getting all out 149 still 205 runs behind .

West Indies had option to ask Bangladesh bat again. But instead WI wanted to bat and exposed bemused Bangladesh batting on the fourth innings on a weary wicket were 19/1 at sumps. WI is 224 ahead with 9 second innings wicket at hand. It will be tall task for Bangladesh taking the match to fourth day and avoid another ignominious defeat.

The only bright spot of the test so far for Bangladesh is Mehedi Miraj and Jayed bowling exceptionally well. This combination arrested WI running riot in the first innings after they started the second day at 295/4. Many thought that wI may score 400 plus. But Miraj taking 5/94 and Jayed 3/ 38 restricted them 354. C Braithwaite got out early felling to Jayed for 110. The other notable scorers were Hetmeyer 86, Hope29, Powell 29.
Bangladesh lookred shaky and nervy all the way playing and missing from the start to now growing lethal West Indian pace attack. Liton was wrongly adjudged LBW to Gabriel which he should have reviewed.  Mominul got out second ball scoring yet another dreadful duck. The double wicket strike of Gabriel set the tone.

Shakib and Tamim tried to resurrect the innings for a while putting together a partnership of 59 for the third wicket. But again a brain freeze of Shakib and Mahmudullah saw a double wicket strike by Holder causing Bangladesh looking down the barrel. Tamim was twice given LBW twice he survived on review. He was dropped at 30. Yet he could not produce a substantial innings nor could he hold the innings together .Even Mushfique was not looking at his best. When five batsmen Mominul, Mahmudullah , Nurul Hasan , Kamrul and Jayed scored duck and no batsman can take charge a team can not survive the ordeal of playing against quality steady bowling . Bangladesh got all out for 149.

Again there was lack of technique, no application, no resolve. The batsmen were neither technically nor mentally equipped for playing like test batsmen. West Indies had option for asking Bangladesh bat again. Perhaps Holder wanted Bangladesh bat on this wearing surface on the fourth innings. Any score of 350 plus would be beyond Bangladesh grasp. Another big defeat and series white wash is looming. It was Holder who destroyed Bangladesh batting with his 5/44. Gabriel with 2/19 and Paul 2/25 gave able support.

We are not sure Bangladesh batting like this can win any test anywhere other than tailor made turning tracks in Bangladesh. Something is very wrong with the psyche of the team. I have not seen Bangladesh batting so poorly in recent time. This test may not last beyond day three.
