Rizvi leads sudden procession for Khaleda’s release The rally lasts for 15 to 20 minutes

DHAKA: BNP leaders and activists brought out a sudden procession in Dhaka Tuesday (August 21), led by its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, demanding immediate release of their party chief Khaleda Zia.

They brought out the procession in Shyamoli area of the city, around 8:15am.

Around fifty leaders and activists of BNP and its wings Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal joined the rally that lasted for 15-20 minutes.

They were heard chanting slogans: “We want Khaleda Zia’s release”.

“This sort of rally doesn’t require any scheduled program. The party chairperson is in jail. The invalid government grilled her out of political vengeance. Anyone can hold such rally anytime and anywhere, demanding her (Khalda Zia) release,” Rizvi told Banglanews.

Rizvi earlier led several sudden rallies in the capital city, demanding the BNP chief’s release from jail.

However, a Dhaka court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years of rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
