Jubo League leader hacked dead in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: A Jubo League leader was hacked to death following a dispute over land, in Maheshkhali of Cox’s Bazar Wednesday (August 16).

The deceased—Ziabul Huq, 40, is former vice president of Matarbari union unit Jubo League.

Locals and police sources said Ziabul had a dispute with one Shamsul Alam from the same area, for long, over land of shrimp enclosure.

A group of terrorists led by Shamsul Alam stabbed him with sharp weapons, leaving his right hand and two legs almost detached from the body around 5pm at Matarbari Banglabazar, they added.  

The deceased’s brother Sarwar, a union parishad member, echoed the same.

Drives are underway to nab the killers, said Maheshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradip Kumar Das.
