DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has filed a petition with the High Court seeking bail in a defamation case filled in Dhaka. 

Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Kashef Hossain are likely to hear the petition.

Deputy Attorney General MA Kamrul Hasan Khan (Aslam) said, “We received the petition. Hearing is likely on Monday (August 13).

As per prosecution, Khaleda Zia questioned the actual number of Liberation War martyrs at a discussion held in Dhaka on December 21, 2015. Besides, she made objectionable remarks about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On January 5, 2016, AB Siddiqui, president of Jananetri Parishad, filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka (CMM).
