DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Two students of Dhaka University were beaten up on campus allegedly by members of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of Awami League.

The incident took place in front the Registrar building of DU on Saturday afternoon (July 14).

The victims are Asaduzzaman and his friend Lina, both third year students of DU Finance Department.

On the other hand, the attackers were first and second year students of Masterda Surja Sen Hall. They were identified as BCL activist Sifat Ullah, student of Women and Gender Studies Department and BCL hall committee member Molla Md. Ale Imran Polash, student of Institute of Education and Research.

According to university sources, a three-member probe body was formed over the incident. Students have given two students’ name to the committee for their involvement in the matter.

Eyewitnesses said Asaduzzaman and Lina were confronted by 10-12 alleged BCL men while they were standing in front of the Registrar building calling a rickshaw to go to Curzon hall. BCL men first asked them to show university ID card and at one point started to beat up Asaduzzaman even after he had shown ID card. When Lina came to rescue, she was also beaten up.
