KHAGRACHHARI: An alleged activist of United People Democratic Front (UPDF-Prasit Khisa Group) was shot to death in Matiranga Upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon (July 12).

The man was identified as Ghanendu Chakma, 40.  The incident happened, around 5 pm, at Alutilla area of the upazila.

The UPDF-Prasit Khisa Group blamed Jana Sanghati Samity for the murder. 

Ghanendu was in that area to carry out his organizational duty. At that time, a group of armed men arrived there on motorbike, and started firing at him indiscriminately. Immediately after shooting, they fled the place, quoting UPDF Khagrachhari district organizer Michael Chakma.

The body will be sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital morgue, quoting Sayed Md Jakir Hossen, officer-in-charge of Matiranga Police Station.

However, no one has lodged any complaint about it yet, OC said.
