DHAKA: The ruling Awami League has nominated the mayoral candidates to contest in the upcoming City Corporation polls of Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet.

The nomination approval came from a joint meeting between the local government and parliamentary nomination board. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting at Ganabhaban on Friday evening (June 22).

Rajshahi metropolitan AL president and former mayor HM Khairuzzaman Liton, Barisal metropolitan AL joint general secretary Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah and former Sylhet metropolitan AL president and former mayor Badaruddin Ahmed Kamran got the nominations from their respective city corporations.

Moreover, AL also nominated MA Matin for Kurigram-3 by-polls.

According to EC schedule, voting in Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet City Corporations will be held on July 30.
