20-party alliance meeting Wednesday

DHAKA: Leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance will hold a meeting Wednesday (June 20) to discuss the country’s ongoing political situation and three city Corporation polls.

BNP co-office secretary Belal Ahmed on Tuesday (June 19) told Banglanews that the meeting will be held at 11:00am at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s political office in Gulshan.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been performing as the coordinator of the alliance since party chairperson Khaleda Zia landed in jail. Later in a meeting the duty was vested on party standing committee member Nazrul Islam.

It has been known that the meeting was called to sort out the next course of action on fixing the candidate for Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet city polls. Moreover, announcing programs demanding Khaleda’s release is also a priority in the discussion.
