Fakhrul, among 3 BNP leaders, denied permission to meet Khaleda

DHAKA: Three senior leaders of BNP, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were denied permission to meet with their party chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail.

Earlier around 4:00pm, they were sent beck from the main gate of Dhaka central jail in old Dhaka’s Nazimuddin road.

The other two BNP leaders are- party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and Mirza Abbas.
 
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "We were supposed to meet with Khaleda Zia on Tuesday (April 19) but could not make it. We went today but jail authority denied entry permission citing Inspector General of Prison was not present in his office."

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five years jail by a Dhaka court in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. Following the verdict, she was taken to Dhaka central jail.
