NILPHAMARI: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina scrapped the quota system as she could realize that it was a logical movement, said Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad.

But, repealing the whole quota system won’t be a right decision, he said further. 

Ershad was addressing a meeting of the workers of his party, in Syedpur of Nilphamari on Saturday (April 14).

“The condition of BNP is battered. Therefore, (I) don’t know whether they can join the polls or not,” he said. 

“An opportunity has been created for JP to come to power as the fame and condition of the government is spoiled. JP will come to power if the election takes place fairly,” he added.

JP Secretary General Ruhul Amin Howladar and Nilphamari-4 lawmaker Showkat Chowdhury, among others, attended the meeting.
