'Govt has no influence on Khaleda’s conviction'

GAZIPUR: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said that the government doesn’t have any influence on the conviction of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

“Khaleda Zia landed in jail following the court verdict over corruption charges,” he said.

“If anyone becomes dissatisfied by the court verdict, s/he can file appeal. The government has no influence on her (Khaleda’s) landing in jail,” added Mozammel.

The minister was addressing a program marking inauguration of a new building in Boroibari Model College in Kaliakoir of Gazipur Saturday (March 31).

National Board of Revenue (NBR) former member Khorshed Alam and Kaliakoir Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam were among others present there.
