Court denies bail to Khaleda in Comilla arson case

COMILLA: A Comilla court has rejected BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail petition in a case filed over the killing of 8 bus passengers by petrol bombs in Chauddagram upazila of Comilla in 2015.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Mustki Billah passed the order on Wednesday (March 14) after Khaleda’s lawyer advocate Nazmus Sadat filed the bail appeal.

Later Nazmus Sadat said the court rejected the bail plea and asked Khaleda Zia to appear before it on March 28.

On February 3 in 2015, 8 people were killed and dozens injured after petrol bomb was hurled at a Dhaka-bound bus in Comilla. Later an arson case was filed accusing 56 BNP-Jamaat men including Khaleda Zia for giving orders of that attack.
