DHAKA: A special court extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia till Monday (February 26) in Zia Charitable Trust graft case. Hearing will be held on the same day.

Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 passed the order, responding a petition seeking an extension of her bail Sunday (February 25).

Khaleda’s lawyer Barrister Moudud Ahmed filed the petition.

On February 1, the same court installed at the prison department ground in Bakshibazar of old Dhaka granted Khaleda bail till Sunday and asked her to appear before the court on the same day.

Khaleda could not appear before the court as she was convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case and sent to jail earlier.

However, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the graft case against Khaleda and three others with Tejgaon police station on August 8, 2011 for embezzling Tk3.15 crore from Zia Charitable Trust.
