Court to decide Khaleda’s eligibility for polls: Quader Quader briefs the media

DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the court will decide whether BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is eligible to contest in the upcoming national election or not.

Quader was addressing the media at the conference room of his ministry in the secretariat Monday (February 19).

“The court will take the decision whether Khaleda Zia will be allowed to take part in the polls or not. It’s the court’s concern, not of Awami League or politics”, he said.

The minister also slammed BNP for bringing a change by repealing a clause to their party formation.

The change of clause-7 will allow a corrupted and convicted person to avail nomination, he said further.

However, a Dhaka special court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
