Tarique behind embassy attack in UK: Quader Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader in Cox's bazar

COX’S BAZAR: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was involved in the attack carried out by BNP men in the Bangladesh embassy of London.

Quader, also the Road transport and Bridges Minister, made the assertion while inaugurating a road in Cox’s Bazar on Monday morning (February 12).

He said Tarique Rahman, son of BNP chief Khaleda Zia who is currently in jail, has been doing such activities while staying in London.

Earlier on February 8, A Special court in Dhaka sentenced five years jail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 10 years jail to five others including Khaleda’s eldest son Tarique in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Following the verdict, Khaleda was sent to Dhaka central jail and BNP named senior Vice chairman Tarique as acting chairman.

Quader said the matter has been informed to Interpol headquarters. An international negotiation process is underway to bring Tarique Rahman back home as he has been convicted.

The minister also said that it is not possible to give such facilities in jail like the ones we get in home. However, Khaleda was given first class division facility in jail as per High Court order.
