100 BNP men detained in city over Khaleda’s verdict

DHAKA: About 100 leaders and activists of the BNP were detained in the capital city on Thursday (February 08) centering the verdict delivered against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The law enforcers detained them from several parts of the city before and after the verdict. The BNP men were detained from morning to evening.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of police’s Ramna zone Maruf Hossain Sarder told Banglanews that the law and order situation are now under control following the verdict against Khaleda Zia.

The Special Court-5 of Dhaka, the makeshift court set up on the premises of Madrasa-e-Alia Dhaka in city’s Bakshibazar area, awarded five years imprisonment to Khaleda Zia in the much-talked-about Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Later, the BNP chief was landed in the old Central Jail in city’s Nazimuddin Road.
