NARAYANGANJ: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the Narayanganj mayhem incident will be investigated and perpetrators involved would be brought to justice soon.

He made the remark while addressing as chief guest at a meeting organized by Ghatak-Dalal Nirmul committee at Narayanganj Engineering Institute auditorium on Friday afternoon (January 19).

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, said Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina told me to investigate and find out the people involved in the incident. They will face an exemplary punishment for their action. 

Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) lunched a hawker eviction drive earlier on Dec 25. In response, hawkers also started united protest against the corporation move.

On January 15, hawkers also held a rally in Narayanganj city demanding place on street. On Jan 16, followers of NCC Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy engaged in violent clash with hawkers when around 50 people including journalists, Awami League leaders and hawkers were injured.
