DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has strongly protested US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

She made the protest in a statement issued on Sunday (December 10).

Signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Khaleda Zia in the statement said, “I am deeply anxious over the new unrest erupted in the Middle East concerning US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, like other peace loving people of the world.”

This decision will largely ruin peace, stability, and a two-state solution of long-standing efforts, she said.
 
She further said that the decision is a slap in the face for the people of Philistine to live independently in their own country. Not only Palestinians, this decision has disheartened every peace loving person of the world, she added.

The BNP chief said, “My opinion is that the decision must be reviewed in no time. I call on everyone to recognize the rights of people in this region through peaceful solutions.”
