Legal step if remark against Khaleda not retracted: BNP BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the press conference

DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the money laundering allegation brought by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina against Khaleda Zia is absolutely fabricated and baseless.

Fakhrul made the response at a press conference in BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office on Friday (Dec 8).

He said the money laundering allegation is a propaganda designed to destroy the image of Khaleda Zia and her family. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian made an imaginary and false allegation against Khaleda to the media. She (Khaleda) did not launder any money and no news media has published such reports.

Mentioning that PM’s remark is illegal and punitive, Fakhrul asked PM to stop spreading false against Khaleda Zia and legal action will be taken if the remark is not withdrawn.

“The allegation is baseless and politically motivated. We are expressing strong condemnation against it and asking to retract the statements.”

BNP standing committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and others were present at the press conference.
