DHAKA: Police detained 15 people after BNP activists clashed with police members and vandalizes vehicles in city’s Bangabazar area on Tuesday afternoon (Dec 4).

Witnesses said the BNP men gathered in front of the court in Bakshibazar area as BNP Chief Khaleda Zia appeared before it to place her statement in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. 

Police and BNP activists engaged in the clash while they were returning from court, they added.

Police chased them while they threw back brick chips, vandalized and torched vehicles on the street. However, no one was injured in the incident. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna Division) Maruf Hossain Sardar told Banglanews that police detained 15 BNP men from the scene during the clash.

DMP South Traffic Police Shahbag zone sergeant Md Mehedi Hasan said, BNP activists put his motorbike on fire during the clash.
