AL female leader hacked dead in B’baria

BRAHMANBARIA: Miscreants stabbed a female leader of the ruling party to death in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria Wednesday (November 22).

The deceased, Swapna Akter, 38, hailed from Charpara area of the upazila, was the secretary for women affairs at Nabinagar upazila unit of Awami League.

Locals and police sources said that some identified men engaged in a brawling with Swapna while she boarded a CNG-driven auto rickshaw for returning home, after attending a rally organized by a ward unit of Awami League, in Doshmoza area at around 9:00pm.

She was stabbed with knife and left from the CNG. 

Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Aslam Shikder told Banglanews that they rescued Swapna in a battered condition, at around 10:00pm.

She was taken to the upazila heath complex where physicians pronounced her dead.

Efforts are on to nab the killers, said the OC.
