COMILLA: Miscreants cut off a leg and a hand of a Jubo League leader in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla.

The victim, Md Alam, union unit secretary general of Jubo League, also sustained stabbings with sharp weapons in different parts of his body.

Locals rescued Alam besides a road in Gopchar village under Zinglatoli union of the upazila, and rushed him to Gouripur Hospital at around 9:30pm. 

Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Alam’s condition is deteriorating, said Gouripur Hospital physician Mahmudul Hasan Sujan.

Alam used to work as a close aide of Monir Hossain, former chairman of Jiarkandi Union Parishad and also joint convener of Titas upazila Jubo League, who was shot dead on November 8, 2016. 

Alam is also accused in several cases including of double murders, said sources.

However, law enforcers have been deployed at Gopchar village, Gouripur Hospital and the adjacent areas to avoid any untoward situation following the incident.  

Called over phone several times, Daudkandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman did not respond.
