Govt playing submissive role on Rohingya issue: Fakhrul

DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the government is playing submissive role over the Rohingya issue.

He made the allegation while speaking at a discussion on ‘Prevent Aggression, Topple the Misrule’ at the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city on Thursday (October 26).

Bangladesh Labour Party, a partner of the BNP-led alliance 20-party alliance, arranged the discussion. Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Emajuddin Ahmed and Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman also spoke at the function with Labour Party chairman Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran in the chair.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the current government fails to resolve the Rohingya crisis. It could not convince India, Russia and China till now.

He said that there is no democracy in the country. The BNP is now trying to restore the democracy.

Mahmudur Rahman in his speech held the government responsible for the death of BNP’s standing committee member MK Anwar. The government pushed over 80-aged leader towards the death through arresting him and putting on remand.
