DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday afternoon (Oct 18) returned home after wrapping up her three-month long visit in the United Kingdom for treatment and personal reasons.

An Emirates Airlines flight carrying Khaleda Zia landed at 5:05pm in Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mahila Dal leader Afroza Abbas and top leaders of the party welcomed her at the airport. 

Besides, thousands of BNP leaders, activists and followers gathered outside the airport and on roads to greet the party chairperson with slogans and flowers.

It was seen first-hand that BNP supporters have started to gather outside the airport and on the two sides of the roads leading to airport from after 2:00pm.

According to party sources, Khaleda is expected to go to her Gulshan residence from airport.

Khaleda Zia is currently facing arrest warrant in three separate cases. BNP leaders and activists have already staged demo protesting the warrant.

Earlier on July 15, Khaleda went to London for treatment.
