DHAKA: Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) President Abdul Kader Siddique on Monday demanded resignation of Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda for making remarks praising BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.

The CEC on Sunday’s dialogue with BNP delegation said, “Ziaur Rahman restored multi-party democracy in the country”.

After joining the EC dialogue, the KSKL delegation later boycotted it protesting the remarks of CEC.

“The CEC should withdraw his statement or he should resign,” Kader told journalists after the meeting.

He added: “As the CEC was alone gave his remark and did not discuss this with the other election commissioners, he lost impartiality.”

Before boycotting the talks, the party, however, placed its 18-point demand before the EC over the upcoming general elections.
