‘Legal action to be taken against Sinha if allegations proved’

DHAKA: Awami League presidium member and former law minister Abdul Matin Khasru on Saturday (October 14) said that legal action will be taken against Chief Justice SK Sinha if the allegations raised against him are proved.

The ruling party MP who is also the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry said this while talking to journalists after inaugurating a branch of the Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd at Burichang upazila in Comilla.

Abdul Matin Khasru said that the allegations of corruptions and other misdeeds of SK Sinha were raised with evidence. If these are proved in the investigation, legal action will be taken against him.   

Earlier on the day, the Supreme Court in a statement said that President Md Abdul Hamid in a meeting with four judges of the Appellate Division at the Bangabhaban on September 30 handed over documents on the 11 specific charges to them against SK Sinha.

The Chief Justice before leaving the country for Australia on Friday night (October 13) said that he is not sick and will come back home after his leave. He also provided a written statement in this regard.
