DHAKA: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi demanded immediate resignation of Law Minister Anisul Haque in wake of the Chief Justice conundrum.

“Chief Justice’s remarks proved that the Law Minister made false statements. Thus he (Anisul Haque) has violated the commitments he made in his oath-taking.”

Rizvi was attending a human chain formed before the National Press Club Saturday (October 14), demanding cancellation of the cases filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

“A person needs to take oath to become a minister. The Law Minister should have been punished on charge of violating oath”, added the BNP frontman.

“Law Minister said that he (CJ) has taken leave on health grounds. The CJ became embarrassed as some ministers including the law minister hurled enraged comments towards him”, added Rizvi.

“The law minister had to face trial on charge of falsehood if there were rules of law in the country. Any fair democratic country never would tolerate such ill behavior. The law minister will be tried when the reign of law will be established in the country in future.”

Citing the CJ as a celebrated lawyer, Rizvi said that the law minister’s ill activities spoiled the prestige of CJ family.

BNP Assistant Organising Secretary Abdus Salam, BNP executive committee members Habibur Islam Habib, Abu Naser Rahmatullah and Professor Aminul Islam were among others present there.

The human chain was organized by Jatiya Ganatantrik Andolan and presided over by M Jahangir Alam.
