‘Boycott Burmese products, cut economic ties’

DHAKA: BNP chairperson’s adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque on Wednesday (September 11) said that they will come forward to help the government in resolving the Rohingya crisis.

The former chief whip of the opposition BNP said this while speaking at a symbolic sit-in program organized demanding stopping of Rohingya genocide by Myanmar government and boycotting the Burmese products.

Dhaka city unit of the Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP) organized the program in front of National Press Club in the city.

The city unit convener Syed Shahjahan Saju presided over the program, while the party’s secretary general M. Golam Mustafa Bhuiyan, city unit member secretary Shahidunnabi Dablu, BNP’s assistant information and technology secretary Kader Gani Chowdhury, NPP secretary general Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Labour Party’s secretary general Hamdullah-al-Mehdi and Kalyan Party’s vice president Shahidur Rahman Tamanna also spoke it, among others.

Zainul Abdin Farroque urged the government to deal the Rohingya issue diplomatically so that the Myanmar government will be forced to solve issue.

He also urged the government to ensure food, safety and treatment for Rohingyas who fled Myanmar and entered Bangladesh.

He suggested the government as well as the countrymen to sever commercial and economic ties with Myanmar as they are committing crimes against humanity and violating the human rights.
